About Credit One

The first thing you have to know about Credit One, is who they are not. Credit One is not Capital One. They are entirely unrelated companies that both happen to issue credit cards. This is made even more confusing by the similarities of their logos.

Next, you should know that Credit One focuses on sub-prime cards for those who’ve had problems with their credit. Credit One is also the official credit card partner of NASCAR. It offers a NASCAR credit card and even sponsors one of the competitors, the #42 car of Chip Ganassi Racing, driven by Kyle Larson. Finally, Credit One Bank is based in Las Vegas and boasts over seven million cardholders.

What Credit One Credit Cards Are Available?

Credit One markets credit cards for people with less-than-great credit. In its defense, the issuer says that in order to make cards available to as many of these subprime borrowers as possible, it has to do things differently from what you see with cards for higher-credit consumers. Fair enough, but the confusion is real, so be warned and be careful when applying.

Credit One offers three types of cards:

Cash Back Rewards Visa

Platinum Visa for Rebuilding Credit

NASCAR® Credit Card from Credit One Bank®

I’d love to tell you all about the terms and conditions for each of these cards, but Credit One doesn’t quite work that way. Instead, you have to be pre-qualified for one of their cards first, and then they’ll let you know what terms they can offer you before you apply.

Pros of Credit One Credit Cards

Credit One Bank credit cards offer an opportunity to rebuild your credit.

Credit cards are unsecured – unlike other credit builder cards, you're not required to put up a savings account or security deposit.

Cards come with perks and benefits similar to traditional credit cards.

Ability to automatically increase your credit line as your payment history warrants.

Optional Credit Protection Program to cover involuntary unemployment, disability and death.

Free monthly credit score, which is perfect for anyone looking to establish or rebuild credit.

Cons

High interest rates, even for those with good credit.

Credit limits are low, starting at $300.

High annual fees, that significantly reduce the already low credit limit. The annual fee can be anywhere from $0 – $99, so keep a close eye on this fee before you apply.

Bottom Line

Credit One offers cards to those with excellent credit, but specializes in products for individuals rebuilding credit. Depending on your income and credit, you may receive cash back with your card.
