Forever 21 Credit Card

Dillard's is an American department store chain with approximately 292 stores in 29 states and headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a Dillard’s Cardmember, you’ll earn rewards points when you shop. Easy to apply, easy to earn.

1. What is a store credit card?

The only difference between store credit cards and regular credit cards is that store credit cards are branded and associated with a specific retailer and its rewards program. Store credit cards allow cardholders to earn and redeem points when making purchases. Store credit cards appear first before credit cards because department stores used to offer special offers to customers to reward their loyalty to a particular store or brand. In addition to the standard rewards program, store credit cards offer in-store discounts and special rewards. Store credit cards have a cash back feature that gives you a discount when you spend money on the retailer's card.

2. What are the benefits of store credit cards?

A reasonable annual fee

Many great store rewards cards don’t have an annual fee.

Save money at your favorite stores

Store rewards cards have different rewards programs which are great ways to save money, especially you are a frequent customer of that shop. For example, My Best Buy Credit Card offers as much as 5% cash back.

Additional sign-up bonuses and benefits

Many store reward cards attract new customers with a sign-up bonus. What’s more, some store reward cards offer extra benefits, such as discounts, free shipping, a birthday gift and extended return policies.

Easy to get and can help you to build credit

Because of store credit cards’ high interest rates and low credit limits, they are easy to get with fair or poor credit. If you can use it responsibly, this is an opportunity to build up your score.

3. What do you need to apply for a store credit card?

Credit score

Banks approve much lower credit scores for store cards. Therefore, applying a store card is an ideal way for someone with a fair or poor credit score to rebuild his or her credit.

Credit card application

You can apply for a store credit card online, in-store or by email depending on the card. And you just need to fill in your personal information and submit your application. The credit card issuer will consider your credit reports and several different factors when reviewing your application to get an idea of your creditworthiness.

4. How to use a store credit card?

Read your credit card terms and conditions.

This will give you an idea of how you can earn rewards, when rewards will post and other information.

Take advantage of sign-up bonuses

Many reward credit cards provide sign-up bonuses, please remember to take advantage of sign-up bonuses before they expire.

Maximize your rewards

Reward credit cards offer many ways to help you to save money on everyday items and big-ticket purchases. Keep an eye out for earning double or triple rewards opportunities. In addition, you need to know when your reward points will expire.

Use two store rewards credit cards

Business credit cards can earn points when shopping in specific stores or buying a certain type of merchandise. So it is a good idea to apply for store credit cards according to your shopping habits to get more rewards. For example, if you are a Walmart regular for daily necessities, and you also need to fuel the car, you can prepare one Walmart credit card and one gas rewards card. But we don’t recommend you to take out too many cards at once, because each credit card application may make your credit score lower. So it’s best to add credit cards slowly and allow your credit to build over time.

Plan and budget

It is easy to become impulsive in getting rewards. Don’t spend more than your budget. Earning rewards is not a valid reason to go over your budget.

Pay your bill in full on time

Many store rewards credit cards provide rewards program, but tend to have higher interest rates. If you carry a balance, your interest charge may be more than your rewards. Therefore, we recommend you to pay the bill in full on time in order to avoid paying high interest.

About Dillard's

Founded by William T. Dillard in 1938, Dillard's, Inc. is an affluent department store with nearly 300 stores throughout the U.S. For over 75 years, Dillard's has been providing people with the style to fit their upscale life, and with Dillard's credit cards they can also provide them with rewards that fit their lifestyle.

What Dillard's Credit Cards Are Available?

Dillard's offers two different kinds of cards. There is the Dillard’s store card and the Dillard’s Elite American Express card. The Dillard's store card allows you to earn 2 reward points per $1 spent at the store. The store's co-branded American Express card not only gives cardholders double points for store purchases, but it also allows its cardholders to earn 2 reward points for every dollar spent at gas stations and grocery stores, and 1 reward point for every $1 spent everywhere else they use it.

Dillard's offers a variety of rewards to its cardholders. With the Dillard's store card you receive a 10% off welcome shopping pass on your first statement the account is opened. The pass offers 10% off all purchases of up to $1,000.

This card also entitles it's holders to receive a 10% off shopping pass for every 1,500 rewards points earned. If you don't like 10% off all-day shopping passes, Dillard's store card holders also have the option of trading in their Dillard's rewards points towards $10 rewards certificates that can be used on any Dillard's purchases.

The Dillard's American Express card offers the same rewards; however you can earn rewards faster with it so you'll get your reward sooner. Just like the store card, The Dillard's American Express card gives its cardholders a 10% off welcome shopping pass when the account is opened, and allows their holders to earn rewards points towards shopping passes and rewards certificates. Dillard's Rewards also offer opportunities to save. Dillard's store cardholders can also take part in exclusive store events and savings. Dillard's credit cards are issued by GE Capital Retail Bank. If this doesn't seem like the card for you, one of the cards here might be more your style.

Should You Get the Dillard's Credit Card?

Since the Dillard's Credit Card offers two different redemption options, it's possible that shoppers who frequently make large Dillard's purchases can get significant value out of the card's rewards. Unless you're going to spend hundreds at a time, however, the rewards will likely leave a lot to be desired.

Overall, most rewards cards on the market will provide nearly the same returns as the Dillard's Credit Card, and they'll do it without limiting your purchases to a single retailer. Unless your sole purpose of obtaining a Dillard's Credit Card is to build credit (in which case, never, never, never carry a balance!) then you'll likely be better off using another card for your purchases — including your Dillard's purchases.
